Lap-band surgery is a reversible procedure, but technically challenging. It should only beperformed by a physician with agreatdeal of experience in reversalsdue to the complexity of the procedure. Generally, gastric bypass patients stay in the hospital 3-4 days following surgery, and recovery takes approximately 2-4 weeks. Due to the nature of the procedure, gastric bypass surgery has a higher rate of complications following surgery and ahigherdeath rate.
